FFAC Recap - Week 1: Rumble
Full steam ahead, bbs. 1 week into this 14 week regular season and we’re already telling Yahoo draft scores & Vegas to kick rocks. Upsets and injuries and overreactions, FANTASY FOOTBALL IS BACK.
Unfortunately I didn’t get enough time to get the pod back up and running, work is kicking my ass this week so just a recap! Also quick reminder to do the league pick’ems, I have a fun lil surprise for the end of the season.
Recap
No match was particularly close, but we’re starting with the match that has our dunce of the week. A measly 76.62 points is rough, Mike, but wow really trying to get me my first correct preseason prediction. 21 point defeat at the hands of Stefan who didn’t particularly light it up scoring 97.96 points, under the league weekly average score of 105. A couple of goose eggs and a LOT of single digit scorers. 72! points on the bench as well, not a great start to your FFAC career. Stefan gets by as the lowest seeded 1-0 team.
And yet, every week still has a biggest blowout, and this time it’s the other rook in Alex whom lost by 23 to Ben. Welcome to the BIGS, new bloods. Rough start for Cam Akers last Thursday night basically set the tone for Alex, whom had an inconsistent performance from his team, all while Ben did Ben things, even though the Packers staved off a negative point performance.
As for the closest match of the week, Spenny falls to Fireball 109-99. For a while there Spencer looked to threaten Mike for lowest scoring week but the later half of games got him back into his match, but too little too late. Can you believe Jason only had 1 non QB TD last week? At a glance this match looked like it should be closer, but a solid Buffalo DEF performance I believe was the difference maker.
Now, Adam didn’t exactly have a bad week, but Zach really stuck it to that Yahoo D+ draft grade, putting up a week 1 high for 126.78 points. Unfortunate for Adam, because he put up the most points of all the losing teams, but would have only beat Stefan on the winning side so the jury is still out. On the bright side, that 2nd round Barkley pick paid off in week 1, sitting at RB1, but time will tell. Zach’s team is looking good though, so another team trying to prove a preseason prediction of mine right a whole ass week into the season.
Then our reigning champ, Cody, taking down the prior year champ in Ryan. Cody actually had the most balanced week, no one player carried that 119 point total which I believe bodes well for his season. Ryan on the other hand, was top heavy and then the bottom falls out, 5 single digit point performances to Cody’s 2. This one wasn’t really close either, a 20+ point victory puts Cody right on Zachs heels for the 2 seed.
And then Jay, despite a monster performance from his 1st rounder, Jefferson, couldn’t keep up with your favorite commissioner. A costly win for myself, however, with a few injuries to deal with heading into week 2 and an early season dud from the much preseson hyped Pierce. A solid 13 point victory for ya boi, but I have a feeling turbulent waters are ahead. At least until the health is back up. At least I got to enjoy winning in front of Jay, but he got some chicken wings out of it on Sunday.

Week 2 Preview
Week 2 spreads are looking tight and I expect much closer matches this week. Injury concerns are aloof, but we should also see some better scoring across the board. LAC vs KC starts us off for TNF, and there will for sure be a couple 2-0 and 0-2 teams. Who will it be?

America’s Game of the Week is Zach v Fireball. The lowest graded draft vs highest graded draft. Someone’s going to get their first loss.
I’m rolling with Zach, Adam, Ryan, Spencer, Jay, & Cody. Yea, I’m actually not picking myself this week, but maybe that jinx’s things for Cody. Sorry Rookies, I think y’all both start 0-2.
