There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Ryan. Our first ever league championship rematch was capped off by Ryan getting his just deserts, as he defeats the 2019 Champion, Ben. Sort of a fitting way to have 2020 end with a team titled Gandemic, and Ryan fulfilling his preseason declaration of a Championship or bust season. Ryan finishes 2nd overall in points scored, bouncing back from a 2 game losing skid headed into the playoffs. Fun little fact about Ryan’s teams, over the last 3 seasons he has consistently finished 1 level higher than the previous: 3rd in 2018, 2nd in 2019, and now 1st in 2020. Does that mean he circles back around next year? Who knows, but for now, enjoy the victory (and a pretty $900 grand prize). Ben, you’ll have to surrender the trophy now (safely). Ryan, reach out to your commissioner once you have the trophy, so I can add your name to it for eternity.

Of course, 2020 was weird and as your commissioner I would have loved to be a little more consistent with the content but with some personal issues and general craziness, it didn’t happen. Not sure if we’ll bring back the podcast next season, but I really do enjoy being your commissioner, so thank you for your patience!
With that out of the way, let’s talk some end of year awards!
Comeback Player of the Year

It really can only go to MJ, having a terrible 2019, and then dealing with injuries, as well as losing the #1 overall pick and 2019’s best fantasy player in McCaffrey to injury basically the whole season, a 5th place finish isn’t exactly something to write home about, but worthy of praise given the circumstances.
Dunce of the Year

Sorry, Jason, but you had to know this was coming. 1st place 2 years ago, 5th place last season, and dead last this year…by a lot. An 8 game losing streak to end the season, 2 games behind 11th in Kelly, and nearly 200 points behind her as well. So, not only worst team of the year, but also the most disappointing, leading to reviving the dunce of the year award. Please make an embarrassing TikTok doing the renegade and post it to slack, thanks ;).

With the smallest margin of victory this season, & 3rd fewest points scored against this year, finishing 3rd with 11 wins is a reminder to us all, it truly is better to be lucky than good sometimes. That’s not a knock on Cody, he clearly was having the most fun this season out of all of us, so perhaps we can learn something from our jolly friend, and try to steal some of that luck into 2021.
Thank you, Ryan, Ben, Cody, Jay, MJ, Shelby, Adam, Stefan, Zach, Kelly, Jason, for a strange, but fun 2020 fantasy football season. I honestly didn’t think we’d make it all the way, but here we are. Looking forward to getting back together in 2021 to resume in person drafts & hangs.
